Conveying conceptual stories by combining unique/antiquated objects became a huge passion of mine in 2011. These are 3-dimentional assemblage pieces from antiquated objects (mostly pre-1940's all the way back to the Victorian Era), as well as, often, animal bones. Each piece is conceptual and tells some kind of story or is a contemplation on some aspect of life. I think of them as visual songs. Aesthetics matter.... a lot... but the meaning drives the aesthetic.

I've always loved knives... not for any nefarious reasons, but because they fascinate me in that they're artfully designed, useful as a tool and a weapon of self defense and also they take so much work and craftsmanship to make. My raw materials are hunks of hardwood (Desert Ironwood, Red-Oak Burl, ebony etc.) and antique hardened steel files, all of which I shape and grind down to completion.

Leather is awesome. It smells good, it lasts, it has an epic texture and is super fun to make stuff out of. There's something about making something you can really use. I always seek to find some kind of design that's got a functional uniqueness about it.
This BoxBag is a 1-of-1 design. It’s made of full-grain Cowhide Leather . The leather is hand-stitched to the wooden sides. All wood is African Blackwood. The handle is made of repurposed antique Asian bone-pipe. The closure is fashioned from repurposed antique-hardware.

These stations are like a little home for the stuff that you carry around in your pockets or wear all day. Wallet, keys, rings/jewelry, writing utensils etc. All the stuff that usually gets lost or misplaced, now has a its own place to live. I seek out rare objects and materials to create these little guys.
I don't smoke. Not technically. But a couple years ago I discovered the simple pleasure of the non-inhaling aromatic magic of a pipe. I'll be honest, it makes sitting around talking, or just thinking seem that much more importantly... there's a photo of CS Lewis with his pipe... it's a nice photo. So I decided to try my hand at making my own pipes our of found blocks of wood... my favorites are the ones made from the dead Persimmon tree that happened to be in my backyard... and wouldn't ya know it, it's a prized hardwood, often described as white ebony. So fun.
Made this pipe in May out of Red Oak Burl which I found here on my cabin-lands.
This is the catch-all section for the otherwise undefinable or un-groupable things I've made. These include a very overbuild mechanical candy machine, my book on the arts and other things and stuffs.
There's nothing like capturing or creating a space that has strong emotive power and evocative ambiance. I love designing spaces--interiors and exteriors--as well as logos, websites and album art. I've spent most of my life creating music (and still do), and when I began to create for the eyes, it added a whole other layer of meaning to my creative life.
